Many of you who know me know that I can't do the "running man" dance to save my life, try though I might. So it was with much chagrin that my friend, Trish, got me up in front of a bar full of people at the end of the ski day to perform an impromptu dance-off doing the running man. Trish is a total gamer with no fear. She went first on the "strength" of my just showing her what I thought the running man was and performed more than admirably in her ski boots. I followed with great reluctance and did my interpretation of the running man. All told it was probably 60 seconds. In the end, I had slightly more of the audience clapping for me and that was that. I won a XXL Kokanee shirt (Canadian beer). Doing a dance I can hardly master. That's apres-ski for you!
I realize these pics don't go with the storyline but I paid a lot to get them on the day of our catskiing and damn if they don't make me look thin. I mean, good. Lol.
On the slopes, we had the good fortune to ski the men's downhill course - Dave Murray - at Whistler on our last day. (Vancouver Olympics 2010 for those of you living under a rock). It was hard, fast snow with a rolling pitch and didn't seem too daunting. Of course, we were making turns to check our speed which is verboten in the downhill. Good luck, Bode! Other highlights on the mountain: Harmony chair and the bumps at Whistler, Blow Hole at Blackcomb, surprisingly good snow to be found so long as you avoided the rocks, sunshine, Fairyland and minimal crowds.

Back off the slopes it was another fun year of apres-ski at Merlins, GLC and Dublin's Gate. We followed a band called The Hair Farmers for two of those nights, ate a skyhigh pile of nachos every night and knocked back numerous Bloody Caesars. We got in just one game of Wizard, suprisingly, but even more so when Erin, among the most competitive and skilled at the game, finished dead last. That's what alcohol does to your brain, kids. But Erin just being there was a cause celebre. She audibled at the 11th hour from Los Gatos (after saying she wasn't going to come due to work and baby) to make the journey north where she spent just a few fleeting hours on the slopes and the rest of her time apres-skiing and shopping. Now that's a Canadian!
