Go Blue!

That's right. Many of you might forget I'm originally from NY and a lifelong Giants fan.

True, I've thrown my support behind the Niners these past few years. And true, I might have shed a tear after their first win when replays showed Coach Harbaugh bear-hugging his much-maligned QB, Alex Smith. All season long I joined the bay area in watching the evolution of a new 49ers team, one that went from 8-8 mediocrity to one of the most spectacular post-season victories. And each week I rooted for Smith, for Gore and Davis; I learned new names like Justin Smith and David Akers.

But now it's all different. It's East coast vs West coast. NY vs SF. My first boyfriend vs the cute new guy I've been flirting with at work. My heart is with the first, tradition is with the first. But the thrill of this Harbaugh-infused Niner team and the performance of a QB who no one in SF thought deserved another year has me captivated. How long can they push this season? How clutch can Smith be in the playoffs?

Make no mistake, come Sunday I'll be wearing my Giants shirt and cheering for the G-men whole-hardheartedly - you never forget your first! - but maybe...if it happens...maybe it won't be so bad to see the Niners advance.
