Back in the pool

Hello my lovely, all blue and chlorine-y. It's been far too long...

I can't remember the last time I was in a pool. Over a year ago - maybe two? Most likely it involved me splashing around in Tahoe at the Trout Creek Recreation Center with friends, swimming a few listless laps before bailing to the hot tub.

Remember when swimming was just about floating with your friend?
But today I made a beeline for the water; unearthed a swimsuit I thought still had enough hold and grabbed a towel. I checked in at the Koret Center at USF and stumbled around lost in the women's locker room before finally finding a door to the pool. Uh oh. Momentary disorientation. Do I shower before I jump in? Which side is the deep end? Is that Masters or open swim? Can I leave my bag here? What's pool protocol for joining lanes? Is my swimsuit riding up?

Aqua running. As boring as it looks.
Waddling around with an aqua belt cinched tight over my hips I tracked down the answers to all my questions and found the perfect lane to start my newest prehab pursuit: Aqua running. Jumping in, I bounced there hesitantly for a minute before starting to run in the water. And ever so slowly I covered a length of the pool. And turned around. And repeated that about a bazillion more times for the next sixty minutes.

This is what pool days should feel like
What I learned: Aqua running is exactly as boring as people say it is, I need a new swimsuit, and I liked the feeling of being in a pool again. Have I forsaken so much in the pursuit of my running? And skiing and paddling? Or are there just too many things to do and too little time? Pool, I think I've missed you.

hahaha. But seriously, I'm assuming this is for recovery, in which case, hope you get better soon. Still funny though...
