Lola

She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said Lola
L-O-L-A, Lola

Christmas comes early! My new Scott Lola's.

I'll admit I wasn't keen on the 60's vibe design - or the fact that I didn't know Scott made skis - but the price was such a steal (they're last year's model), the specs exactly what I wanted (mid-fat, early rise) and the name....the name! Just saying Lola took me right back to my bedroom floor in New Jersey with the Kinks One for the Road playing ad nauseum on my record player, me memorizing the liner notes and singing along. La la la la Lola.

First concert? The Kinks at Madison Square Garden with Joan Jett opening.
First time I knew what the song Lola was really about? Sometime in the 21st century.

Squaw opens in 22 days. Tickets for Utah are purchased. Rumors of Whistler are percolating. A new playlist is in the works for the first road trip of the season. And yet, I'm finding it hard to get my winter stoke on when I spent the morning chilling on a beach in sunny San Francisco watching surfing.

I'm not complaining - the weather has been rejuvenating! Warmest paddle all year last Saturday! - but for all my prep work and now my new skis, snow-steria is still a quiet little bomb inside me waiting to go off with the next big storm.
