NYC for Thanksgiving

Yikes - time moving quickly. Thanksgiving, New York, Giants win, Giants lose, Giants win (and more importantly, over Dallas!), holiday sales, North Face Challenge and ski season begins!

Thanksgiving week in New York was fun. Crowded, chaotic, busy but fun. Being together with all of the Pinney clan was pretty special - it's quite a crew. Giants smack-talk, excessive eating and some questionable displays of hoop-shooting prowess aside, we're a fairly amusing lot. No, of course, I'm not biased.

Can I get a Whoa, Pinney?

Saw Next to Normal (musical) with Brooke and A Steady Rain (play) with my mom and Brooke. Had bleacher seats for the Macy's Parade and managed to hone in on the only things NOT on sale for the holidays. Saw the following celebrities: Lee Bryant (from Airplane!), Annette O'Toole, Cyndi Lauper, Willie Garson (Sex and the City), Kermit the frog, Tim DeKay (bizarro Jerry from Seinfeld) and of course, Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman leaving the theater after their performance in A Steady Rain.

Ran in
Central Park almost every day with leaves still turning and clinging to the trees. That was beautiful. Cold but not unbearable - it was fun to go immerse myself in the Central Park running experience; and to carve out some alone time in an activity, Pinney-filled week.

I will say that watching the way women dress in NYC was a huge part of the week - lots of leggings and jeans tucked into boots with layers of sweaters, leather, wool coats and big scarves. Boots everywhere. 5 days of living in my Patagonia and Frye shit-kickers and I was feeling woefully unhip. Dropping a few hundy I was able to buy my way in, if only briefly, with a faboo new coat from Loehman's and a buttery soft new purse. Mmmm.

Of course, back in California the next day I was out in flip flops and a running skirt mountain biking at Tamarancho with Jessica, but I digress. Winter will come to San Francisco and with it, the debut of my warm, winter coat!

Left New York feeling full of holiday spirit, holiday debt, holiday meals and the annual post-glow feeling of having just watched Love, Actually to kick off the season. Fall in New York is a magical time.
